Bartlett Maritime Celebrates Fifth Anniversary, Re-elects Board
CLEVELAND – Bartlett Maritime Corporation celebrated the company’s fifth anniversary during their annual meeting, Feb. 22, 2024.
Formed in 2019 to address the crisis in submarine maintenance, Bartlett Maritime proposes to expand America’s submarine industrial base by constructing and operating component repair facilities in northeast Ohio and establishing a rotational workforce of skilled trades workers to support submarine construction and maintenance. The proposal also includes an option to build a new public naval shipyard in Charleston, S.C.
The company’s current Board of Directors were all re-elected at the annual meeting.
“I’m proud of our tremendous team of outstanding leaders and experts in the nuclear-powered submarine and naval shipyard industry,” Founder and CEO Edward L. Bartlett, Jr., said. “For the past five years, we have been developing and constantly refining our approach to keep pace with the growing challenges facing the Navy’s submarine force. The urgency to address this maintenance crisis has never been greater, and we are eager to deliver affordable, innovative solutions with the speed that urgency demands.”
Headquartered in Cleveland, Bartlett Maritime seeks to leverage the industrial capabilities of the Great Lakes region to reduce a significant maintenance backlog. During recent years, that backlog has at times left almost twice as many submarines as expected tied to the pier and unavailable for fleet operations.
“With the global security demands on our Navy right now, America can’t afford to leave our most valuable players, our submarines, on the bench,” Bartlett said. “We need to get them back on the field. The Bartlett Maritime team is ready to help the Navy and our industry partners get it done.”
